Jordon Roderick and Shay’auna Bowman first crossed paths during their undergraduate studies at South Carolina State University, where they served as Community Assistants tasked with guiding and mentoring students while organizing dorm hall events.

Their acquaintance deepened during CA training, as they found themselves preparing for the incoming freshman class assigned to the same dorm, Williams Hall. However, just two days prior to the start of the first semester, Williams Hall was no longer designated as co-ed for the 2015-2016 academic year, leading to Jordon's relocation to Mays to fulfill his Community Assistant duties. From then on, Jordon's Blue Mustang and Shay'auna's Red Infiniti became familiar sights around campus.

Jordon and Shay grew close as he attentively listened to her insights from her Broadcasting classes, while he shared endearing stories about his daughter, Skylar, and his aspirations as a Business major.

On June 1st, 2016, Jordon invited Shay'auna to dinner and formally asked her to be his girlfriend. Both committed to supporting each other in achieving their respective goals by focusing on their studies, personal aspirations, and future careers post-graduation. They collaborated on refining resumes, conducting mock interviews, and navigating life's intricacies while discovering their preferences and dislikes. Despite living in different cities, they made concerted efforts to frequently visit each other, especially during the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic when additional precautions were necessary.

On June 1st, 2023, Jordon proposed to Shay'auna during a dinner at Hall's Chophouse, marking a significant milestone in their journey together, symbolizing the completion of a full circle in their relationship.
